François Billig and the Acrotec Group closely associated with the Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix (GPHG)

François Billig, CEO of the Acrotec Group, has been invited to become a member of the Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix Academy by the directors of the Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix (GPHG). The GPHG Academy was created in 2020, in a unifying spirit similar to that of Acrotec. It invites experienced men and women with a strong belief in the future of the watchmaking community to take part in the various stages of the watch selection process. The Academy is made up of several hundred members who are key, experienced representatives in the main sectors linked to the watchmaking industry, and it is divided into committees to form a vast network of ambassadors around the world. The members’ fundamental mission is to put forward eligible watch models, alongside brands’ traditional entries, and to take part in the voting process to decide the prizewinners.

At the 2021 GPHG official ceremony, on 4 November in Geneva, 84 watches will be considered for the prestigious Aiguille d’Or, or for one of the 18 other awards that will be given.

“I am delighted to be joining this prestigious academy, which brings together almost all the major representatives in the watchmaking community,” says François Billig. This desire to unite all the key players in this sector, involved in both pre and post finished product, is closely aligned with the values of the Acrotec Group, and it is a great recognition of those whose expertise enables Swiss high-precision watchmaking to have a reputation unequalled anywhere in the world. The Acrotec Group is also a member of the Friends of the Foundation of the Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix. In the run-up to the GPHG event, you can find out more about the 84 pre-selected watches here: https://gphg.org/horlogerie/fr/gphg-2020/montres-preselectionnees.

Many of them contain components that have been manufactured by Acrotec Group member companies 😊
